Éric Judor returns with fantasy comedy Le Roi du Game

The fantasy comedy Le Roi du Game is released in French cinemas on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. Directed by Éric Judor, the film marks his return to directing nine years after Problemos.

The story follows Alexandre, a serious father attempting to reconnect with his daughter by infiltrating a group of clumsy adventurers participating in a medieval-fantasy role-playing game. The film utilizes a parodic approach to the heroic fantasy genre, blending family themes with an extravagant, absurd setting.

Co-starring Alexandra Lamy and Marc Labrèche, the production was written in collaboration with Antonin Fourlon, Cédric Prévost, and Élodie Wallace. Distributed by Gaumont, the film explores the contrast between the protagonist's grounded motivations and the eccentric, rule-based world of live-action role-playing.
