Ricardo Arjona gifts car to longtime collaborator in Mexico City

Guatemalan singer Ricardo Arjona surprised a long-time friend and collaborator, a Mexican man known as Pocho, by gifting him a new yellow Volkswagen Beetle in Mexico City.

The relationship between the two began decades ago when Arjona, during the early stages of his career, hailed a taxi driven by Pocho in the Mexican capital. This encounter served as the inspiration for Arjona’s 1994 hit song, ‘Historia de taxi’. Over the years, their connection evolved from passenger and driver to a professional partnership, with Pocho serving as a set designer for 12 of Arjona’s international tours.

Arjona shared the emotional reunion on social media in October 2026. During the meeting, the singer expressed his gratitude for Pocho’s loyalty, stating, “For us, you are a celebration.” The gift was presented as a tribute to their shared history and years of work together.
