Ricardo Barreda case featured in new Prime Video production

A new production titled ‘Barreda’ is set to premiere on Prime Video, focusing on the case of Ricardo Barreda, the dentist who murdered four women in his family in La Plata in 1992. The victims included his wife, Gladys MacDonald, his mother-in-law, Elena Arreche, and his two daughters, Cecilia and Adriana.

For years, Barreda claimed his actions were motivated by humiliation, specifically citing the nickname ‘Conchita’ used by his family. However, biographical research has challenged this narrative. Investigations suggest the nickname may not have been a tool of humiliation, but rather a joke among friends related to his appearance and social life.

The 1992 massacre remains a significant event in Argentine criminal history, having inspired various books, documentaries, and films due to its intense media coverage and the complex psychological profile of the perpetrator.
