Ricardo Estigarribia calls for opposition unity in Paraguay

Ricardo Estigarribia, the governor of Central and a presidential hopeful for the Liberal Party (PLRA), has called for political unity among opposition forces ahead of the 2028 general elections. During a meeting with 61 newly elected mayors, Estigarribia emphasized the need to strengthen municipal management to demonstrate that the opposition offers a viable alternative to the current government.

Estigarribia stated his commitment to seeking consensus and building a common program through a dialogue table. He noted that while he seeks unity, he is willing to support other candidates if a consensus is reached through a formal consultation process, provided the goal remains a unified opposition front.
