Ricardo Maia faces investigation over Pix amendment funds
The Public Prosecutor's Office at the Federal Court of Accounts (MPTCU) has requested an investigation into the use of a ‘Pix amendment’ indicated by Federal Deputy Ricardo Maia (MDB-BA). The investigation focuses on R$ 396,000 in federal funds that were transferred to the municipality of Ribeira do Pombal (BA) and subsequently used to pay a fuel station owned by the deputy's brother-in-law.
Sub-prosecutor general Lucas Rocha Furtado noted potential indicators of conflict of interest, political and family favoritism, and the misdirection of public spending. The prosecutor highlighted that the funds were directed to a relative's company in a municipality where the deputy's wife serves as a secretary and the mayor is a political ally, which may violate the constitutional principle of impersonality.
The legal representation suggests these actions could constitute administrative misconduct, potentially resulting in illicit enrichment, damage to the public treasury, or violations of bidding laws.
