Ricardo Nadal questions legislative influence on gambling law

Ricardo Nadal Martínez, president of the National Association of Sports Betting, has raised concerns regarding the potential influence of legislators on a proposed gambling law currently under review by the Dominican Republic's National Congress.

Nadal clarified that while owning a business in the sector is not a crime, the proximity of certain lawmakers to the gambling industry creates questions about the integrity of the legislative process. He noted that although some legislators may not have officially served on the relevant commissions, there is evidence, including video recordings, suggesting they were present at meetings related to the project.

He emphasized that the issue lies in the ambiguity and the potential for influence exerted by individuals with business ties to the industry while new regulations are being established.
