Ricardo Pepi replaced on USMNT roster due to injury

United States Men's National Team striker Ricardo Pepi has been removed from the squad for the upcoming international window due to an injury sustained during a match between PSV Eindhoven and FC Twente. Pepi, who appeared in all five of the United States' World Cup matches this summer, described the injury as a “minor setback” and has begun his recovery process in the Netherlands.

Head coach Mauricio Pochettino has called up Damion Downs of St. Louis City SC to replace Pepi. Downs, who holds dual American and German citizenship, returns to the national team after more than a year away. The USMNT is scheduled to play four friendly matches against Peru, Chile, Mexico, and Canada during the September-October window.
