Riccardo De Corato warns of subversive violence in No Tav protests
Riccardo De Corato, a deputy for Fratelli d'Italia and Vice President of the Constitutional Affairs Commission, has called for maximum firmness against what he describes as subversive activities related to the No Tav movement.
De Corato expressed serious concern regarding organized assaults on construction sites, attacks on law enforcement, and the use of Molotov cocktails and improvised devices. He noted that clashes in late July resulted in injuries to 126 law enforcement officers and caused approximately one million euros in damages.
Describing the situation as a dangerous subversive drift rather than mere public dissent, De Corato warned that these actions challenge the authority of the State. He drew comparisons to the historical political violence of the 'Years of Lead,' emphasizing that while dissent is constitutionally protected, organized violence against state infrastructure and personnel constitutes a violation of the law.
