Riccardo Maria Monti named president of Viareggio Carnival Foundation

The mayor of Viareggio, Sara Grilli, appointed Riccardo Maria Monti as the new president of the Fondazione Carnevale di Viareggio. Monti, a manager, entrepreneur and university professor, brings more than thirty years of experience leading companies, institutions and organisations involved in promoting Italy’s internationalisation. He currently chairs the digital‑services group Triboo, listed on the Milan Stock Exchange, and has previously headed bodies such as ICE, SIMEST, Grandi Stazioni and Italferr, working with governments and firms in over fifty countries.

The municipal administration said the choice aims to boost the carnival’s national and international standing, create new partnership opportunities, attract investment and foster cultural and economic development. Monti welcomed the role, emphasizing the carnival’s unique artistic and identity value and pledging to strengthen its global projection while preserving its historic tradition.
