Riccardo Petrilli qualifies for 2028 Los Angeles Olympics

Riccardo Petrilli, an athlete from the GLS Dolphins Ancona, has secured qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics following a successful performance with the Italian national flag football team.

During the World Championships held in Düsseldorf, Germany, the Italian team reached the final for the first time. After advancing through the group stages by defeating Great Britain, Panama, and France, and eliminating Germany in the quarterfinals and Canada in the semifinals, Italy earned the silver medal after a loss to the United States in the final.

This achievement is particularly significant as flag football makes its official debut in the Olympic program. Petrilli, who previously won the European Championship in 2025, continues a successful career that includes participation in the 2021 World Championships and the World Games in Alabama.
