Riccione municipality sues Lega over defamatory TikTok video

The Municipality of Riccione has issued a legal mandate to attorney Moreno Maresi to protect the city's image and reputation following a TikTok video published by the Lega party. The administration describes the video, which depicted a crowded beach with dark-skinned individuals, as defamatory, discriminatory, and denigrating.

According to the municipality, the footage used in the video was actually filmed in Ceuta, Spain, rather than Riccione. The video was captioned with a scenario set in 2030 regarding the political status of Matteo Salvini. The content has garnered over 700,000 views, with related videos from the same profile reaching over two million views.

Mayor Daniela Angelini stated that legal action is necessary to defend the community and its reputation for hospitality. Any damages recovered through the lawsuit are intended to be allocated to a municipal fund to support rent for families facing economic hardship.
