Riccione restaurant apologizes after vulgar note found on tourist's receipt
A Brazilian tourist, Maria Clara, experienced a distressing incident at the Victor Lab restaurant in Riccione, Italy, on August 19. After politely requesting that her scrambled eggs be cooked longer, she discovered a vulgar message written on her receipt intended for the kitchen: “Burn the eggs and spit in them.”
Clara reported that the waiter reacted rudely to her initial request. Upon confronting the restaurant management with the receipt, a 17-year-old waiter reportedly became visibly upset and attempted to discard the evidence, claiming the note was merely a “joke” between him and the chef. The tourist threatened to call the police to prevent him from destroying the receipt.
The restaurant management has since issued a public apology via Google reviews, stating that the employee's behavior was “absolutely inappropriate” and does not reflect the establishment's professional standards or values. The restaurant also canceled the bill for the family.
