Riccione to host Sismax National Congress on emergency management

The third Sismax National Congress, focused on the Integrated System for Rescue in Mass Emergencies, will take place from October 21 to 23 at the Palazzo del Turismo in Riccione, Italy. The event aims to bring together hundreds of medical professionals, security experts, and emergency management operators from across the country.

A major highlight of the congress is a large-scale demonstration exercise scheduled for October 22. Spanning the area between Piazzale Roma and the local beach, the simulation will involve a fishing vessel in distress near the coast. The exercise will test field coordination and the integration of new intervention technologies through the synchronized efforts of healthcare personnel, the Coast Guard, the Prefecture, the Police, Firefighters, and the Romagna ASL. The simulation will focus on triage procedures, first aid, and managing complex scenarios.

The congress is part of a 2026-2027 biennial agreement intended to establish Riccione as a national reference point for emergency management and to boost congress tourism. This agreement also includes provisions for free training courses provided by Sismax experts for Riccione’s local police and civil protection services, as well as community awareness initiatives.
