Rice University Adds Bun B’s Trill Burgers to Campus Dining

Houston rapper Bernard "Bun B" Freeman’s Trill Burgers chain will open a campus outpost at Rice University’s Memorial Center on August 17. The new location will serve the brand’s signature smashed beef patties as well as vegan options, and will be available to students, faculty, alumni and the public, including those using university meal plans.

Trill Burgers, founded in 2021 by Bun B with co‑founders Andy Nguyen and Nick Scurfield, currently operates three brick‑and‑mortar restaurants in the Houston area (Montrose, Missouri City, and Spring). The Rice opening is part of the university’s effort to bring recognizable local food concepts onto campus, joining existing partners Local Foods and Dandelion Café. The chain is also known for pop‑culture collaborations, such as limited‑edition anime‑themed burgers.
