Richard Branson highlights investment potential in Venezuela

British entrepreneur and Virgin Group founder Sir Richard Branson opened the Startup Venezuela Summit 2026 in Caracas, noting that the country possesses the necessary ingredients to become a major economy. During his keynote address, Branson emphasized the potential of the Venezuelan entrepreneurial community and encouraged young innovators to drive economic transformation through bravery and social responsibility.

However, Branson cautioned that significant international capital inflows are contingent upon political and institutional progress. He stated that investors are waiting for the holding of elections and the establishment of an adequate rule of law before committing substantial funds. He suggested that the next 18 months could be a decisive period for evaluating investment opportunities in sectors such as entrepreneurship, aviation, and tourism.

Additionally, Branson revealed that Venezuelan Chancellor Félix Plasencia proposed the possibility of Virgin Atlantic establishing a direct flight route between Caracas and London.
