Richard Carapaz may leave EF Education-EasyPost

Former sports director Johan Bruyneel has suggested that Ecuadorian cyclist Richard Carapaz is highly likely to leave EF Education-EasyPost following the 2026 season. Despite having a contract that runs through 2027, Bruyneel stated on 'THEMOVE+' podcast that the move is “more than a rumor.”

While Bruyneel declined to specify a potential new team, the news comes as Carapaz has regained significant form. After a difficult start to 2026 involving surgery that sidelined him from the Giro d'Italia, the 33-year-old secured a second-place finish at the Vuelta a Suiza and a notable performance in the Tour de France, where he won two stages and secured the mountains classification.

Neither Carapaz nor EF Education-EasyPost has officially commented on the potential departure. If the reports are accurate, the transition would require a mutual agreement between the rider and the team to resolve his existing contract.
