Richard Carapaz wins combativity award on Tour de France stage 14

Ecuadorian rider Richard Carapaz was named the most combative cyclist after a long solo escape on stage 14 of the 2026 Tour de France, held in the Vosges mountains. Though he was caught before the finish, he crossed the line 1 minute 18 seconds behind winner Tadej Pogacar, remained third in the mountain classification and kept his chances for the polka‑dot jersey alive.

A separate analysis of the stage noted that Jonas Vingegaard’s effort on the final climb helped Pogacar maintain his lead, describing Vingegaard’s work as crucial to “doing the job” for the race leader, while also commenting on the tactics of the Visma team and the overall intensity of the stage.
