Tadej Pogacar clinches fifth Tour de France victory on Alpe d’Huez

Slovenian rider Tadej Pogacar won stage 19 of the 2026 Tour de France, conquering the iconic Alpe d’Huez climb and extending his overall lead to more than seven minutes ahead of Belgian challenger Remco Evenepoel. The win marks Pogacar’s fifth Tour triumph, tying the all‑time record held by Anquetil, Merckx, Hinault and Indurain. Mexican Isaac del Toro retained third place in the general classification and the white jersey for the best young rider, while Ecuadorian Richard Carapaz had taken the previous day’s stage 18 victory. Crowd estimates for the Alpe d’Huez finish ran into the hundreds of thousands, and the race was broadcast live on multiple international channels.

Stage 19’s result solidified Pogacar’s position ahead of the final Alpine stages, setting up a showdown for the overall title as the peloton prepares for the concluding stages toward Paris.
