Richard Emery elected president of Truck Industry Council

Richard Emery, President and CEO of Hino Motor Sales Australia, has been elected president of the Truck Industry Council (TIC). Emery succeeds Andrew Harbison, the managing director and CEO of Isuzu Trucks Australia. The appointment was announced during the TIC annual general meeting in Canberra.

Emery brings four decades of automotive experience in Australia and South-East Asia to the role. His leadership will focus on the National Truck Plan, which aims to develop a safer and more efficient Australian truck fleet, as well as addressing emissions requirements, fleet renewal, and the development of a Road User Charge framework.

Concurrently, questions have been raised regarding the accuracy of industry sales data. Because several new Chinese truck brands, such as Sitrak and FAW, are not members of the TIC, their sales figures are not included in the monthly T-Mark truck tracker. Industry insiders suggest this omission may be masking the true state of the market, potentially making recent reported downturns appear more significant than they are.
