Richard Jomshof seeks new democracy minister role

Richard Jomshof, a prominent figure in the Sweden Democrats (SD), has expressed interest in a newly created position as ‘democracy minister’. This comes amid intense political friction regarding his recent statements about Islam, which he characterizes as a threat to democracy.

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson has accused Jomshof of sabotaging the election campaign with his rhetoric. Jomshof, who is currently on a book tour lecturing on religious influence, defended his actions, stating that he is driving the issues he believes in. While Kristersson has promised SD ministerial posts if the Tidö parties retain power, the future of Jomshof’s candidacy remains uncertain following his controversial comments regarding Magdalena Andersson.

Jomshof indicated that he is not interested in existing ministerial roles, suggesting they would conflict with his ongoing public advocacy. However, he stated he would immediately accept a post specifically focused on Islam and the issue of Islamization.
