Richard Lee defense protests unequal trial time allocation
During an evidentiary hearing at the Tangerang District Court on October 1, 2026, legal counsel for Richard Lee protested what they described as unequal treatment regarding the time allocated for presenting witnesses.
Defense attorney Faizal Hafied argued that the prosecution (JPU) was granted approximately two and a half months for their proceedings, whereas the defense requested only about five weeks to present their witnesses and experts. Hafied emphasized the principle of equality among the four pillars of law enforcement in Indonesia: police, prosecutors, judges, and advocates.
The trial involves allegations of consumer rights violations and breaches of health laws. During the session, the defense presented three witnesses, including entrepreneur Fitri Salhuteru, to testify that the products in question meet required standards for quality, safety, and efficacy.
