Richard Lloyd of Television diagnosed with bile duct cancer
Richard Lloyd, the co-founding guitarist of the influential rock band Television, has been diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma, a serious form of bile duct cancer. His bandmate in the Richard Lloyd Group, Sean Seymour, has launched a GoFundMe campaign to assist Lloyd and his wife, Sheila, with mounting medical and living expenses.
Lloyd’s condition is severe, involving multiple tumors in his liver, one of which is located too close to a major blood vessel for safe surgical removal. He has faced significant health complications, including two bouts of sepsis and seven stays in the intensive care unit. Because the illness prevents him from touring—his primary source of income—and requires his wife to serve as a full-time caregiver, the couple is facing acute financial hardship.
The fundraising goal is $80,000. Notable contributors to the campaign include Patti Smith and Susan Tweedy. Lloyd expressed his need for support in a statement, noting that while he is attempting to remain positive, the financial strain has become difficult to manage alone.
