Richard Machata finishes sixth in 100m at World U20 Championships

Slovak sprinter Richard Machata secured a sixth-place finish in the 100m final at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Eugene, USA. His time of 10.34 seconds established a new personal and Slovak junior record.

Fellow club teammate and Slovak record holder Ján Volko praised the 18-year-old's potential, suggesting that Machata possesses superior genetic predispositions for top-tier sprinting. Volko noted that while Machata's start needs work, his strong finish mirrors Volko's own early career development. Volko expressed hope that Machata might eventually break his national records in both the 100m and 200m disciplines.

In addition to the 100m, Machata competed in the 200m, finishing 16th overall with a time of 21.06 seconds, which placed him sixth among European athletes.
