South Surrey man charged after alleged knife chase and vehicle assault
A 37-year-old man, Richard Mark James Evoy, has been arrested and charged following an alleged assault and knife chase at Redwood Park in South Surrey on September 9, 2026.
According to the Surrey Police Service, the incident began when the suspect allegedly drove a Jeep Wrangler into the victim’s Ford pickup truck. As the victim attempted to flee, the suspect reportedly brandished a knife and pursued him on foot. A witness, photographer Robin Nuber, captured dramatic video of the event, which shows the victim clinging to the outside of a vehicle to escape the attacker.
Police stated that the suspect and the victim are known to each other and the incident is not believed to be random. Evoy faces multiple Criminal Code charges, including assault with a weapon, assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, criminal harassment, and uttering threats. He has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Surrey Provincial Court.
