Richard Martini wins Interlaghi 2026 sailing championship

Richard Martini, sailing the Platu 25 “Kong Bambino Viziato,” secured victory at the 52nd Classic Winter Championship – Kong Trophy. The regatta, part of the Fiv calendar, took place on Lake Como between Mandello del Lario and Lecco, featuring approximately fifty boats across six classes.

Martini, who serves as the president of the Lega Navale Italiana di Mandello, competed in the Orc class alongside crew members Edmondo Martini, Alberto Benedetti, Lorenzo Airoldi, Maurilio Arrigoni, and Mauro Dell’Oro. His win was determined by a first-place finish and two second-place finishes, narrowly beating Sebastiano Breni’s “Seline” by half a point.

The event was organized through a collaboration between the Lega Navale Italiana di Mandello, Canottieri Lecco, and Yacht Club Domaso Circolo Velico del Lario.
