Richard Sulík faces backlash over wedding remarks

Former SaS leader Richard Sulík is facing intense political backlash following a video from his son's wedding. In the footage, Sulík refers to controversial figures, including convicted extremist Daniel Bombica and Erik Kaliňák, as “v pohode ľudia” (fine people).

The comments have drawn sharp condemnation from former colleagues and current political allies. Jana Bittó Cigániková has indicated she is considering whether to continue her political cooperation with Sulík, stating she needs time to decide. Branislav Gröhling, who took over the SaS leadership, criticized the remarks as a loss of “moral compass” and a justification for his decision not to include Sulík on the party's candidate list.

Igor Matovič also issued a harsh response, labeling Sulík an “idiot” and criticizing his past ministerial conduct. In response to the controversy, Sulík stated that while he has had value-based and personal conflicts with the individuals mentioned, his comments were made in a private setting during a wedding, outside the realm of politics.
