Richard Vogel misses one-million-euro Grand Slam jackpot

German show jumper Richard Vogel narrowly missed out on a one-million-euro Grand Slam jackpot at the Spruce Meadows Grand Prix in Calgary. Despite previous victories in 's-Hertogenbosch and Aachen with his horse United Touch, Vogel finished fifth after a rail down in the jump-off.

British rider Ben Maher secured first place with Enjeu, delivering the fastest clear round among six pairs in the jump-off. Maher earned 30 percent of the 3.6 million US dollar prize pool.

Although he missed the top prize, Vogel secured a 500,000 euro bonus for his two previous Grand Slam wins, along with individual prize money totaling 750,000 euros from his earlier victories. The Grand Slam series includes major tournaments in Aachen, 's-Hertogenbosch, Calgary, and Geneva.
