Richard Vogel pursues Grand Slam bonus at Spruce Meadows

German show jumper Richard Vogel is pursuing a historic one-million-euro bonus in the Rolex Grand Slam series at the Spruce Meadows Masters in Calgary. Following consecutive victories at the Dutch Masters in 's-Hertogenbosch and the Grand Prix of Aachen, Vogel needs a win in Calgary to secure the third consecutive major title.

If successful, Vogel would become only the second rider in history to achieve this feat, joining British rider Scott Brash. A victory in Calgary would also grant him 30 percent of a 3.6 million US dollar prize pool. Even without a win, Vogel has already secured a 500,000 euro bonus due to his previous two victories.

In the Cana Cup held at Spruce Meadows, several German riders performed well. Sophie Hinners secured second place riding Iron Dames My Prins, while André Thieme and Daniel Deusser also finished in the top ten. Richard Vogel faced challenges in the Cana Cup, accumulating penalty points with his horse Cloudio.
