Willer Tomaz assets frozen by R$ 6 billion following money laundering probe

Supreme Court Minister Alexandre de Moraes has ordered the freezing of up to R$ 6 billion in assets belonging to lawyer Willer Tomaz. The decision includes movable and immovable property, aircraft, and boats. Additionally, the court ordered the suspension of Tomaz's passports, including his diplomatic passport, and the cessation of economic and financial activities for all companies under his management.

The Federal Police are investigating Tomaz for suspected money laundering related to betting businesses. The investigation gained momentum after authorities discovered Tomaz traveled to Miami following a search and seizure operation in August. The court also ordered the breach of his banking, tax, and exchange secrecy, including data from Alcazar Holdings, which is based in Madeira, Portugal.

Investigators identified Senator Flávio Bolsonaro as a ‘master user’ on an Alcazar Holdings account, a status that provides high-level administrative control. While Bolsonaro and Tomaz maintain they are merely friends with no business ties, the Federal Police suggest this link may indicate a de facto economic or corporate partnership. The probe also examines records of travel expenses paid by Tomaz for the senator and various business meetings between the two.
