Richmond Auctions to auction Messi card and World Cup trophy replica

Richmond Auctions, a South Carolina-based auction house, is expanding into the sports collectibles market with a premier auction scheduled for November 7. The event will feature a unique lot consisting of a replica trophy used during Argentina’s 2022 World Cup victory celebrations in Qatar and a PSA 10 GEM MINT 2022 Panini Instant Lionel Messi #118 trading card.

The trophy replica was passed among team members for approximately 45 minutes following the official ceremony, during which it was signed by players. Its history is documented through media reports, photographs, and its subsequent exhibition in an Argentine museum. The accompanying Messi trading card depicts the player holding the replica trophy.

Founded in 2021 by Jordan Richmond and Mike McCandless, Richmond Auctions has already surpassed $100 million in total sales, specializing in rare items such as antique advertising memorabilia and automotive collectibles. The upcoming auction will also include other notable items, such as vintage Mickey Mantle and Michael Jordan cards.
