Richmond City Council to review solar energy deals and zoning updates

The Richmond City Council is set to review several municipal initiatives, including a zoning code rewrite known as Code Refresh. The city is currently accepting public comments on the third draft of this plan, specifically seeking feedback on parcel designations to finalize map details.

On the regular agenda, the council will consider a special-use request from Audeo Partners for a townhome project on Meadow Street, which is part of a larger development to convert the nearby Virginia Home building into 131 apartments. Additionally, the council will review ordinances for solar power purchase agreements with RVA PSL Solar 2050 LLC. This project aims to install rooftop solar panels on 39 city-owned buildings to generate renewable electricity and reduce reliance on Dominion Energy.

Other items on the consent agenda include amendments to the Richmond 300 master plan, covering cultural heritage stewardship, transportation equity, and parks and recreation.
