Rick Achberger, iconic WWE ‘Sign Guy’ superfan, passes away

Rick Achberger, a prominent professional wrestling superfan known as ‘Sign Guy,’ has passed away. The news was announced by Lance Peterson on September 27, 2026, following a rapid decline in Achberger’s health over the previous month.

Achberger was a recognizable fixture at WWE, TNA, and AEW events for decades, often identified by his signature red hat, blue work shirt, and creative signs. He was known for his frequent attendance, having reportedly participated in over 1,000 WWE events and attending between 40 and 50 shows annually.

Wrestling industry figures, including WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H, Alexa Bliss, and Big E, have shared tributes. Triple H described Achberger as a ‘fixture at events’ who would be missed by the entire WWE family. Achberger also gained mainstream recognition in 2007 as a contestant on the game show ‘Deal or No Deal,’ where he won $106,000.
