Rick Caruso to vote for Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass

Billionaire developer Rick Caruso announced he will vote for incumbent Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass in her reelection campaign. Caruso, who lost to Bass in the 2022 mayoral election, stated that his decision follows close collaboration with the mayor during rebuilding efforts after the January 2025 Palisades Fire.

Caruso noted that while he and Bass have had disagreements, he has seen her grow in the role and demonstrate a commitment to helping communities rebuild. While his spokesperson clarified that the statement is not a formal endorsement, Caruso emphasized that he is sharing his voting intention to focus on the city's future rather than past political rivalries.

Bass responded by expressing honor at the news, highlighting their partnership through his nonprofit, Steadfast LA, particularly regarding the Palisades Recreation Center project. Bass is currently facing a competitive reelection race against City Councilwoman Nithya Raman.
