Rick Jackson Gains Trump Endorsement Ahead of Georgia Governor Race
Former President Donald Trump endorsed Republican Rick Jackson for Georgia governor after the primary defeat of his earlier choice, Lt. Gov. Burt Jones. The endorsement was framed as a call for GOP unity in the closely watched race, where Jackson will face Democrat Keisha Lance Bottoms.
Trump and Jackson visited Wheeler High School, where Trump highlighted the federal "Trump Accounts" program that provides $1,000 to children born between 2025 and 2028, with families able to add $5,000 annually. Jackson pledged to match the federal contribution with a state‑level $1,000 and said he would personally fund the match if the legislature did not approve it. Trump claimed nearly $1.5 billion has been deposited into the accounts.
