Rick Nielsen to auction Cheap Trick memorabilia and guitar collection

Rick Nielsen, the guitarist for Cheap Trick, is auctioning over 300 items from his extensive collection through Julien's Auctions. The event, held in Nashville, includes a wide variety of memorabilia such as electric guitars, amplifiers, handwritten lyrics, set lists, concert posters, stage props, and clothing.

High-value items include a custom 2004 Hamer five-neck Korina electric guitar estimated between $175,000 and $200,000, and a 1975 Hamer Standard estimated at $200,000 to $300,000. Other notable lots feature a 1955 Ford Thunderbird, a 1984 Gibson Les Paul XPL, and handwritten lyrics for “Heaven Tonight”.

Nielsen, who owns approximately 800 guitars, described the selection as an “appetizer” from his total collection. The auction process involved Julien's Auctions staff spending several weeks at his home to catalog the items.
