Rick Nielsen's 5-neck guitar sells for $313,600 at auction

Rick Nielsen, the guitarist for Cheap Trick, has auctioned a collection of over 300 personal items through Julien’s Auctions. The centerpiece, a custom 2004 Hamer five-neck guitar used during live performances, sold for $313,600, significantly exceeding its initial estimate of $175,000 to $200,000.

Other notable items from the collection included a 1975 Hamer guitar which fetched $256,000, a 1955 Ford Thunderbird for $76,800, and a custom sweater worn on the cover of the album ‘One on One’ which sold for $6,400. A black rubberized overcoat, famously urinated on by Mötley Crüe’s Nikki Sixx, sold for $5,760.

A portion of the auction proceeds is being donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to support research and treatment for children with cancer. Nielsen stated that he chose to support the hospital because of the meaningful work conducted by the organization.
