Rick Ross arrested in Miami Beach on domestic violence charges
American rapper Rick Ross, born William Leonard Roberts II, was arrested in Miami Beach on Thursday, October 1, 2026, facing charges of felony battery by strangulation and misdemeanor battery. The charges stem from an alleged domestic violence incident occurring on August 28 at his Star Island residence.
According to an arrest affidavit, the accuser—a woman who had been in a relationship with Ross for approximately one year—alleged that an argument regarding an Instagram photo escalated into physical violence. She claimed Ross struck her multiple times, grabbed her by the ponytail, slammed her against a wall, and choked her by twisting the collar of her hoodie until she could not breathe. The accuser also reported an injury to her lip.
Ross voluntarily surrendered to authorities and was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges. His attorneys, Steve Sadow and Bradley Horenstein, have dismissed the allegations as “totally fabricated” and “wrongful,” noting the delay between the alleged incident and the police report. A judge has ordered Ross to stay away from the accuser and set his bond at approximately $5,000 to $6,000. An arraignment is scheduled for October 22.
