Rick Thomas appointed SVP of Programming at Malama Media Group

Malama Media Group has appointed veteran radio executive Rick Thomas as Senior Vice President of Programming. Thomas will oversee the programming strategies for the company’s Honolulu station cluster and assist in managing future acquisitions.

The appointment follows Malama Media Group’s acquisition of several Honolulu-based stations from Salem Media, including KHNR-AM 690, KGU-FM 99.5, KHCM-FM 97.5, and KKOL-FM 107.9. Thomas returns to the Hawaii market after serving as Brand Manager for Beasley Media Group in Tampa. His previous experience in Honolulu includes leadership roles at SummitMedia and Ohana Broadcasting.

Thomas will report to Managing Partner and Honolulu Market President Josh Villa. The move is intended to strengthen the connection between the media brands and the communities they serve through experienced content leadership.
