Rick Wakeman performs piano music for rescued bears in Vietnam

Rick Wakeman Animals Asia bear bile farming animal welfare Vietnam

Musician Rick Wakeman, formerly of the band Yes, has composed and performed melodic piano music for rescued bears at the Animals Asia sanctuary in Vietnam’s Tam Dao National Park.

The performance aims to raise awareness for animals still held in bear bile farms, where bears are traditionally caged to harvest bile for medicinal use. Wakeman noted that while the sanctuary currently houses 150 bears, approximately 125 bears remain in cages at old bile farms, with an estimated four deaths occurring each month. He expressed a desire to see these animals moved to the sanctuary as quickly as possible.
