Ricky Gervais denies snubbing BBC ‘The Office’ anniversary special

Ricky Gervais has denied claims that his absence from a BBC documentary celebrating the 25th anniversary of the sitcom ‘The Office’ was an intentional snub toward the broadcaster.

Speaking to Saga Magazine, Gervais dismissed the allegations as “nonsense,” stating that he remains proud of the show. He explained that he chose to mark the milestone by creating his own content for his YouTube channel, noting that participating in the BBC special would have “watered down” his own project.

The BBC’s anniversary special, part of the ‘Remembers...’ series, featured co-stars Martin Freeman and Mackenzie Crook. While some media reports characterized Gervais's absence as a “huge blow” to the broadcaster, his representatives clarified that there is no rift between the comedian and the BBC, and that he was simply unavailable at the time.
