Ricky Gervais faces criticism following Lucy Davis's terminal cancer news

Comedian Ricky Gervais is facing social media criticism following his promotional posts on X after former 'The Office' co-star Lucy Davis announced her terminal cancer diagnosis.

Davis, 53, revealed that she was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer approximately 18 months ago. She stated that the cancer has metastasized to her bones, including her spine, ribs, and right hip, and is now incurable. She noted that chemotherapy is no longer an option and urged others not to ignore small health changes.

Gervais initially responded to Davis’s announcement with a heart emoji, to which she replied with “xxx.” However, several hours later, Gervais posted content promoting his YouTube channel broadcasts and his Netflix program, 'Alley Cats.' Followers labeled the timing of these promotional posts as “tone deaf” and “insensitive,” with some users accusing him of being out of touch.
