Ricky Martin joins Gael García Bernal’s ‘Hombre al Agua’ as actor and producer
Ricky Martin is returning to Spanish-language cinema as both an actor and an executive producer for the film ‘Hombre al Agua’. Directed by Gael García Bernal, the project is described as a surrealist comedy-drama.
The story follows Camilo, a Cuban lifeguard played by Bernal, whose life changes after saving Abel, an influential Mexican businessman with political ambitions. Abel brings Camilo to Mexico, where he eventually marries Abel’s daughter and starts a family, only to find himself caught in a complex web of manipulation and control.
Martin will portray Roby, an actor hired to play Camilo in a biographical film within the movie’s narrative. This role marks Martin’s first full performance in Spanish in over two decades. Bernal noted that Martin was his first choice for the character and expressed enthusiasm for the singer’s involvement in the production side of the film.
