Ridley Scott discusses Blade Runner production challenges

Director Ridley Scott has shared recollections regarding the production of his film Blade Runner. During an interview, Scott described a critical moment on set when producers considered cutting the film due to budget concerns and unmet expectations.

Scott recounted a pivotal night when actor Rutger Hauer visited his trailer to present a rewritten version of the final scene's dialogue. This interaction led to the filming of the iconic monologue, including the famous line, “I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.”

Conflicting accounts exist regarding the scene's creation. While some reports suggest Hauer improvised the entire monologue, Scott maintains that the dialogue was a collaborative effort. Additionally, producer Michael Deeley noted that producers Bud Yorkin and Jerry Perenchio had effectively dismissed Scott and Deeley during the project's final stages.
