Ridley Scott rejects retirement, announces upcoming film projects

Director Ridley Scott has expressed that he has no intention of retiring, stating that he “despise[s] the idea of quitting” and intends to remain active as long as he is healthy. The 88-year-old filmmaker currently has several projects in development.

One upcoming project is the post-apocalyptic science fiction film “The Dog Stars,” adapted from the novel by Peter Heller. The film features a cast including Josh Brolin, Margaret Qualley, and Jacob Elordi. The story follows a civilian pilot surviving in a remote area after a pandemic has nearly eradicated humanity.

Scott is also preparing for a production titled “Treasure Island,” starring Hugh Jackman, which is in pre-production with filming potentially starting in early 2027.
