Ridley Scott releases behind-the-scenes footage for ‘Last Survivor’

A special featurette has been released showcasing the behind-the-scenes production of Ridley Scott’s upcoming film, ‘Last Survivor’, scheduled for release on August 28. Based on Peter Heller’s bestselling novel ‘Dog Stars’, the story is set in a dystopian world where a mysterious pandemic has wiped out 90% of the population.

The footage highlights large-scale filming locations in Italy, utilizing the vast natural landscapes to emphasize the isolation of the characters. The film follows a pilot named Hig (played by Jacob Elordi) who, guided by a mysterious radio signal, ventures into unknown territory while relying on the memory of his late wife and his dog for survival.

Cast members Jacob Elordi, Margaret Qualley, and Josh Brolin expressed high praise for Scott’s direction. Elordi noted Scott’s ability to tell stories through visuals, sometimes using up to eleven cameras for a single scene. Scott stated that the script immediately drew him in, promising a film that incorporates “human drama, terror, and the worst possible situations.”
