Ridley Scott responds to Quentin Tarantino's film ranking
Director Ridley Scott has responded to Quentin Tarantino naming Scott’s 2001 war drama, ‘Black Hawk Down’, as the best film of the 21st century. In an interview with The Times, Scott jokingly questioned Tarantino’s reasoning, stating, “I wonder what he was on, because whatever it is, I want some,” while clarifying that he does not personally consider it the best film of the century.
Scott also used the interview to criticize the current state of modern cinema, arguing that the market has become oversaturated with repetitive tropes, specifically citing superhero films, crime dramas, and stories involving FBI agents or murders in the woods. He expressed a desire for more diverse storytelling in the industry.
Scott’s upcoming film, ‘The Dog Stars’, is scheduled for release in cinemas next week. The film stars Jacob Elordi as a civilian pilot in a world ravaged by a deadly flu pandemic.
