Ridley Scott confirms Alien: Covenant sequel starring Michael Fassbender

Director Ridley Scott has confirmed he is working on a sequel to ‘Alien: Covenant’ to complete his prequel trilogy. The new project will focus on the android character David, played by Michael Fassbender, and will pick up from the conclusion of ‘Covenant’ where David seeks to create ‘a brave new world for himself.’

Scott revealed these plans in an interview with the Los Angeles Times, noting that he has personally begun rewriting the script. He expressed a desire to return to the franchise after describing the recent film ‘Alien: Romulus’ as merely ‘OK,’ suggesting the series needs further development. The director noted his fascination with the story of a malfunctioning artificial intelligence, stating, ‘AIs can go off. And if they do, it’s like a bomb.’

While the project is in development, it remains to be seen how it will fit alongside other upcoming entries in the franchise, such as the ‘Romulus’ sequel. Scott, who is 88, continues to maintain a busy schedule with upcoming projects including ‘The Dog Stars’ and an adaptation of ‘Treasure Island.’
