Ridley Scott begins casting for “Treasure Island” adaptation

Director Ridley Scott is preparing a new adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic “Treasure Island”. Hugh Jackman is confirmed to play the iconic pirate Long John Silver.

During the promotion of his latest science-fiction film, “The Dog Star”, Scott revealed that casting for the project is currently underway. The director expressed interest in recruiting British actor Owen Cooper, known for his role in the series “Adolescence”, to play the protagonist, Jim Hawkins. Scott also mentioned his hope to cast Hugh Grant in an undisclosed role.

The screenplay is being written by Jack Thorne. Scott has indicated that filming for the production is scheduled to begin on November 1, 2026.
