Ridley Scott to produce new Alien prequel project

20th Century Studios is developing a new installment in the Alien franchise that will serve as a follow-up to Ridley Scott’s Prometheus and Alien: Covenant. The project is reportedly distinct from the previously announced Alien: Romulus sequel.

Ridley Scott is currently attached to produce the film. Aaron Guzikowski, known for the series Raised by Wolves and the film Prisoners, is set to write the script. The narrative is expected to feature connective tissue involving the android character David, though Michael Fassbender is not currently confirmed to return.

Separately, Ridley Scott’s Gladiator II has seen a surge in popularity on Netflix following its streaming release. While the film earned $460.3 million worldwide against a $250 million budget, Scott has indicated he is working on a script for a potential Gladiator 3.
