Ridley Scott to rewrite next Alien film to continue David's story

Director Ridley Scott has announced he is rewriting the next installment in the ‘Alien’ franchise. The new project aims to pick up the narrative following the events of ‘Alien: Covenant’ (2017), specifically focusing on the story of the android David, portrayed by Michael Fassbender.

This development follows the success of ‘Alien: Romulus’ (2024), which grossed $350.9 million worldwide. While Fede Álvarez had previously completed a script for a ‘Romulus’ sequel, he has stepped down from directing the project to serve as a producer alongside Scott. Steve Asbell, head of production at 20th Century Studios, has denied rumors that the sequel was cancelled.

Separately, Scott offered a brief positive assessment of the series ‘Alien: Earth’, created by Noah Hawley, describing it as ‘Really damn good’.
